Men's Tennis Opens Season at Brown Invitational

Providence, R.I. - A youthful Boston College men's tennis team opened their sesason with a solid performance in the Brown University Invitational in Providence, R.I.
Junior Soma Kesthley started the Eagles on their winning ways by taking his first two matches in Flight 1 before falling to eventual flight winner Dan Hanegby from Brown. Fellow junior Dennis Reardon also won his first two before he was taken down by Army's Steve Coulis.
Geoff Mueller was able to string together wins in three of his four matches and ended his flight with a strong fifth place finish.
Five new faces helped set the pace for the Eagles. Freshman Alex Rastorgouev finished first in his flight by knocking off Army's Kevin Harris in three sets, 5-7 6-3 6-4. Sam Wagner made the semifinals of his flight before dropping a three set match to Manhattan's Filip Szymik, while Michael Reiser earned a fifth place finish.
Two other freshman, Jason Sechrist and Brian Hartness each won their first matches of the season. Zach Wolfe lost his first match but was able to win his next two and finish ninth.
The doubles contingent of Kesthley and Wagner fought hard to earn a ninth place finish with wins over Army, Bucknell and Manhattan. The duo of Reiser and Reardon lost a tough match to Bucknell, 8-7, but were able to earn a fifth place finish, triumphing over Boston University and Villanova.
