Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's soccer team earned its third straight victory with a 2-1 win over Northeastern at Newton Campus Field. Sophomore Sherron Manswell collected his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Both teams came out of the gate playing strong defense, but the Eagles finally broke through in the 39th minute. Junior Jamen Amato sent a throw-in towards the net and, following a quick touch by Hadrien Toure, junior Sam Brill rose above Northeastern defenders to put a header in the top right corner. The goal was Brill's first of the season.
The game-winner came on a brilliantly executed play in the 62nd minute started by midfielder Lennie McMillian. McMillian found a streaking Greg O'Neil down the sideline who sent a cross towards Manswell. The sophomore gathered the feed and added his third goal this week.
Northeastern fought hard throughout and was able to cut the deficit to one in the 84th minute when Andrew Konoplesky finished off a fine service by Ben Levy. It would be too late as Eagle goalkeeper Issey Maholo kept the Eagles in front with two dazzling saves in the second half.
The Eagles have their first ever Atlantic Coast Conference game Friday at Virginia Tech.
