Women's Cross Country Runs At Dartmouth Invitational

Hanover, N.H. - The women's cross country team finished second at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 10. The Eagles finished with 44 total points just behind host Dartmouth College with 31 points. BC also had its top five runners finish in the top 20 in a field of 99 runners. Nine teams competed in the race.
Senior Kristen Coon finished fifth overall in the race with a time of 19 minutes, 48.40 seconds, only 29 seconds behind top finisher Melanie Schorr of Dartmouth. Junior Kathleen Smyth was the next BC runner to cross the line for the Eagles. She finished in ninth with a time of 20:06.80.
Also bringing in points for the Eagles was 12th place finisher Lynn Kubeja, Nikki Tufts (15th), Anne Hessberg (16th), Mallory Champa (18th) and Mary Heitkamp (27th).
Champa and classmate Erika Somogyi competed in their first race as BC freshmen. Despite captain Maria Cicero, captain Laurel Burdick, Jessica Flinn and freshman Nichole Lister not competing at the invitational the women finished the meet strong.
Next up for the squad is Quinnipiac University on Friday Sept. 23 in Hamden, Conn.
