Teaneck, N.J. - Boston College (0-1) began the 2005 season with a 3-1 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson (1-0) in a fiercely contested match at University Stadium in Teaneck N.J.
The 15th ranked Eagles got on the board early as sophomore Sherron Manswell converted on a pass from offensive catalyst Charlie Davies at 10:29.
The Knights struck back when Donny Mayard scored on a cross from midfielder Mirza Rusevic in the 20th minute.
The momentum shifted with just over five minutes left in the first half, when goalkeeper Issey Maholo was handed a red card and subsequently ejected. The Knights would quickly break the 1-1 tie. One minute into the second half, Alejandro Bedoya stole a pass and put home the game-winner. Bedoya would assist on the insurance goal to give FDU a 3-1 win.
The Eagles return to action Sunday, September 4 at cross-town rival Boston University.
