Women's Basketball Among Field For 2005 Preseason WNIT

Fort Collins, Colo. -- Boston College is part of the 16-team field for the 2005 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament, as announced by WNIT Executive Director Brent Amick.
The field for the prestigious tournament that kicks off the women's college basketball season includes nine teams that played in the postseason last year: Boston College, Chattanooga, Connecticut, Indiana State, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Richmond and SMU.
Boston College will be making its second appearance in the Preseason WNIT. In the 1999-2000 tournament, the Eagles went 3-2, beating Maine, Duke, and Davidson.
This year's single-elimination tournament opens November 11. On that date, the Eagles will host Drexel in a first-round match-up. Second-round games will be held on November 13 and 14. The semifinals will be November 16-17 and the championship will be decided on Sunday, November 20. All games will be played on home campuses, which are determined after each round.
