Boston College senior middle distance runner Melissa Sherman (Dennis, Mass.) earned a spot on the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Track and Field/Cross Country District I team. It is Sherman's first appearance on the team and she will be represented on the national ballot.
Sherman won the 800 meter at the BIG EAST Championship, running the third-fastest time in school history (2:08.23). She qualified for the NCAA regionals and also ran Boston College's fastest outdoor mile at the Brown Invitational, finishing in 4:48.97).
In 2004, she won the New England Championship in the 800, in both the outdoor and indoor events.
