AMHERST, Mass. - The Boston College softball team dropped a single game at Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles fell, 9-1 in five innings, at UM Softball Complex. With the loss, BC is now 18-25 overall. The Minutewomen, who pounded out 13 hits, improved to 30-14-1.
UMass scored twice in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead, but the Eagles got one of those runs back in the third inning when Jenna Macchi (Milford, Mass.) led off with a single and scored on a one-out RBI double by Kristin Allain (Worcester, Mass.) to make it 2-1
Massachusetts broke the game open with a four-run third inning. The Minutewomen belted four hits in the inning, including a two-run home run by Pam Sulick. It was Sulick's second homer of the afternoon. She finished with a 2-for-2 effort and four RBI. UMass scored three more runs in the fourth inning to force the mercy-rule.

Elena Ferrero (Van Nuys, Calif.) started the game for the Eagles, going two innings and giving up three runs on five hits. Michelle Daly (Concord, Mass.) came in next and allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk. Daly fanned one.
