Senior pitcher Joe Martinez earned Big East Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season, as announced by the conference office.
Martinez (8-2) threw his fifth consecutive complete game for Boston College on Monday, leading the Eagles to a 3-0 shutout victory over Pittsburgh. The righthander surrendered just three hits while striking out three en route to his second shutout of the year.
The senior leads the team with 90 strikeouts and 82.0 innings pitched. He also leads the Eagles with a 2.30 ERA.
Martinez earned Pitcher of the Week honors on April 18 after striking out 11 in a four-hit shutout at Rutgers.
Boston College (34-16, 15-7) has clinched a berth in the Big East Championship, which will be held at Commerce Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J. on May 26-28. The Eagles were the runner-up in last year's tournament.
