Senior defenseman Andrew Alberts and junior forward Patrick Eaves earned Division I All-American East first team honors, while senior forward Ryan Shannon gained second-team honors, according to an announcement by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
Alberts is the only player to repeat as a first-team selection. The last Eagle to repeat on the first team was Brian Gionta (1999, 2000 and 2001). In addition, Eaves and Shannon were honored as second-team selections last season. All three players gained 2004-05 All-Hockey East first-team honors.
Alberts proved to be one of the nation's top defensive defensemen. As BC's top blueliner, the senior was an integral part of both the power play and penalty-kill units. He finished the season with 16 points on four goals and 12 assists and posted a +15 rating.
Eaves, the 2004-05 Hockey East Player of the Year, finished second in scoring in league games, notching 30 points in 22 conference contests. He tied for the league's top spot with 14 goals. Eaves finished the season with 48 point overall, landing him 11th in the nation. He posted three or more points in seven games this season, four of which came in league games.
Shannon was a key contributor to all phases of the team this season. The captain amassed 45 points on 14 goals and a team-leading 31 assists. He posted six power-play tallies, three game-winners and a shorthanded goal.
Boston College has posted a first-team selection in each of the past three seasons (including two in 2004 and 2005). Since 1998, nine Eagles have earned All-America first-team honors a combined 13 times.
Boston College finished the season with a 26-7-7 mark. The Eagles finished atop the Hockey East regular-season standings and won the Hockey East Tournament, earning their third-straight NCAA Tournament bid.
