Five Eagles Win Events At Solomon Husky Invitational

Boston College athletes won five events on Saturday as the women's track team excelled at the Solomon Husky Invitational in Boston, Mass in a non-scoring event.
Senior Melissa Sherman led the way with a victory in the 800 meters, finishing in 2 minutes, 14.06 seconds. Freshman Mary Heitkamp and sophomore Kathleen Smyth came in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the event.
Sophomore Kasey Hill continued her strong spring with a first-place finish in the 100-meter high hurdles. Hill came in with a mark of 14.86, just ahead of senior Liz Hassan, who finished second.
Annie Walsh won the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 4 inches. Hill was third with a jump of 16-07.25.
Carolyn Rayburn took home first in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 12-0. Megan Mara finished third.
Jesse Mizzone won her first event of the season, winning the 10,000 meters with a time of 38:40.36. Cara Valeri finished second.
Stephanie Ho came in second in the discus throw and Brighid Marquess was third in the javelin.
