Women's Track Finishes Third At Brown University

Senior Saki Sugano broke her own school record in the pole vault for the second consecutive week and won the event by more than a foot as she helped lead the women's track team to a third-place finish at Saturday's Brown Invitational.
Sugano's mark of 12 feet, 7 ½ inches earned ten points for BC. She beat last week's mark at the Wildcat Invitational by exactly two inches.
Senior Melissa Sherman pulled off an impressive double, winning the mile with a mark of 4 minutes, 48.97 seconds and also capturing the 800-meter crown in 2:11.51. Sophomore Kathleen Smyth finished third in the mile, earning six points for the team.
Junior Alexis Lake ran BC's top time of the season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a mark of 10:44.96. She beat the second-place finisher from Brown by more than nine seconds.
Senior co-captain Liz Hassan ran the second-fastest 400-meter hurdles time in school history with her mark of 1:03.64. Hassan finished third in the event.
Kasey Hill finished fourth in the shot put and Stephanie Ho was fifth in the discus throw for the Eagles.
