Women's Team Finishes 11th At St. Mary's

BC Sailing's Women's Team had a difficult time in light air at the St. Mary's Women's Intersectional. Leigh Kempton `08/Lizz McAlpine '06 finished 6th in A division, while Julie Wilson `05/Jen Doyle '05 were 11th in B division. The 8th ranked women's team finished 11th overall in the field of 18.
Meanwhile, back home in Boston, BC jumped out to an early lead in two regional spring series. Mike Grosso `06/Aly Whitehead '07 and Spencer Powers `07/Brook Dow '07 dominated the Metro Series regatta at BC's home site, Savin Hill Yacht Club, winning by 30 points.
On Sunday, BC hosted the first Team Racing Series event of the spring. Two Eagle teams dominated the event with the team of Jay Connolly `07/Erin Morley '07, Reed Johnson `8/Mallory Fontenot '08, and Tim Orazem `06/Audrey Seynhaeve '07 winning the regatta with 9 wins and only 1 loss. Their only loss came at the hands of BC's second team of Pat Dietz `06/Paula Finsness '08, Grosso/Whitehead, and Powers/Dow, who finished close behind in second place with an 8-2 mark.
The Metro and Team Race Series continue each weekend during the spring, with 5 events in each series. BC is looking to improve on its second place overall finishes in both series last fall.
The women's team takes Easter weekend off and looks forward to race at the Duplin Trophy on April 2-3.
BC's coed team currently ranks 4th in the country, slipping one spot from last week's No. 3 ranking.
