The women's rowing team started its spring season in impressive fashion on Saturday, as three boats won races at the Jesuit Invitational on Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
The Eagles had first-place boats in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four. The freshman eight finished second and the second freshman eight came in third.
"We were extremely happy with the performance," said assistance varsity coach Michelle Garren. "It was a great start to the year. It built a lot of confidence. There's always room for improvement - but we're happy."
The varsity eight ran away from the competition, finishing the race in 6 minutes, 50.3 seconds. The Eagles came in nearly ten seconds ahead of second-place Georgetown.
"The girls did great in the offseason and they really showed their strength and determination on Saturday," Garren said.
The second varsity eight beat out Georgetown's boat by more than 33 seconds and the varsity four finished ahead of boats from Holy Cross and Loyola.
BC returns to action on Saturday when it races Harvard and Northeastern on the Charles River at 9 a.m.
