Lacrosse Tops Quinnipiac, 8-6

Babson Park, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team defeated Quinnipiac University, 8-6, tonight at Babson College. Senior Susie Breaznell scored the game-winning goal with 9:26 remaining in the second half for the Eagles.
BC (3-1) out-shot Quinnipiac 22-8 in the first half.
Quinnipiac (0-4) got on the board first with two consecutive goals in the opening five minutes.
Lizette Blohm cut the deficit to one with her fourth goal of the season. Courtney Legath assisted on the score. Jackie Yovankin evened the score at two at 16:21.
The Bobcats added two goals to take a 4-2 lead with 8:33 remaining in the half.
The Eagles responded with three straight scores to close out the frame. Shauna Culhane scored her sixth goal of the season. Elizabeth Kadison tied the game at four at 2:51 and 32 seconds later Legath earned her second point of the game on a goal off a pass from Kadison.
BC headed into halftime with a 5-4 edge.
In the second half, the Eagles out-shot the Bobcats 11-4.
Quinnipiac opened the half with a goal to even the score at five.
Kadison connected on a free position shot to put the Eagles up by one. Quinnipiac responded with its final goal of the game at 11:57.
Breaznell tallied the gamewinner at 9:26 off a free position shot. She added a second goal at 7:09 to seal the victory for the Eagles. Yovankin assisted on the score.
In the final minutes of the second half, the Eagle defense held off Quinnipiac's attack. Alana Vivolo led the defense with three caused turnovers and two groundballs.
In goal Tara McKennett made five saves for the Eagles, and Ashley Thompson stopped 14 shots on goal for the Bobcats.
BC will host Stony Brook on Tuesday, March 22 at Babson College. The action starts at 7 p.m.
