Patrick Eaves Named Hockey East Player Of The Year

Patrick Eaves was named Hockey East Player of the Year at the Hockey East Awards Banquet at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass. on March 17, 2005. Eaves joined teammates Ryan Shannon and Andrew Alberts as First Team Hockey East All-Stars. Freshman Cory Schneider was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Eaves finished second in scoring in league games, notching 30 points in 22 conference matches. He tied for the league's top spot with 14 goals. He put up three or more points in seven games this season, four of which came in league games.
Eaves scored three game-winners, two coming in the regular season against UMass-Lowell and Boston University and the other against Massachusetts in game two of the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Patrick and his older brother Ben are the first brothers to both be named Hockey East Player of the Year. This season, Eaves collected HE Player of the Week honors on January 17, HE Player of the Month honors in October and January and National Player of the Month for January.
Shannon, who shared the ITECH "Three Stars" Award with Eaves, finished second in the league in scoring in conference play (30 points). Shannon was also a runner-up for the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award. Alberts was BC's top blueliner, playing an integral role in the penalty-kill unit and posting 13 points overall.
Schneider played 14 games in net for the Eagles. He finished the season unbeaten, posting a 1.64 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
BC squares off against Maine tonight at the FleetCenter in the Hockey East Semifinals. The puck drops at 5 p.m. and the game will air live on NESN.
