The women's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 4-3 win over Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. on Friday.
With the score knotted at three, freshman Gia Nafarrete battled her way to victory in the No. 5 singles slot. After splitting the first two sets with Pia Terol, Nafarrete won a hard-fought third set and took the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. It was Nafarrete's first win in the No. 5 slot this season.
The Eagles (4-6) won the decisive doubles point at the beginning of the match, claiming victories in two of the three matches. Senior Szilvia Szegedi and sophomore Lindsey Nash won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, while senior Morgan Landes and freshman Caitlin Arnould cruised in the No. 3 slot, 8-2.
Landes and Nash won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Both were victorious in straight sets.
