Sanders Named Hockey East Player Of The Week

Wakefield, Mass. - Boston College senior co-captain Kerri Sanders was named Hockey East Player of the Week in an announcement made by the league office on Monday. Sanders tallied three points with two goals and one assist in two games against Connecticut this weekend.
On Friday night in the 4-1 loss to the Huskies, Sanders set up the lone goal for the Eagles to earn her thirteenth assist of the season. The forward is second on the team in assists. In Sunday's 2-1 win over Connecticut Sanders netted both of BC's goals.
In 25 games this season, Sanders has tallied 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. She has had at least one point in five of the last nine games.
Sanders is the first BC player to receive Player of the Week honors this season. Alison Quandt has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the conference and four freshmen have taken home Rookie of the Week honors this season.
BC (7-15-3, 3-8-2) will play in the first round of the Beanpot Tournament on Tuesday night. The Eagles will face off against Boston University at 5 p.m. at Northeastern's Matthews Arena.
