Spillane, Quandt Honored By Hockey East

Wakefield, Mass. - Boston College freshman center Deborah Spillane was named Hockey East Player of the Week and junior goalie Alison Quandt was selected as Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement made by the conference office on Monday. Quandt earns the honor for the second straight week and fourth time this season.
This weekend in a two-game series against Maine, Spillane netted three goals. On Saturday in a 2-1 victory the rookie tallied both goals, including a short-handed gamewinner for the Eagles. In Sunday's 5-2 win, Spillane also added a score for her 18th goal of the season. She has 33 points in 31 games this season.
Quandt stopped 65 of 68 shots she faced in the two-game sweep of the Black Bears. In Saturday's 2-1 win, she turned away 32 of 33 shots. Quandt has led the Eagles to a 4-1-1 mark in their last six league contests. She posts a 2.83 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.
Junior Jill McInnis and freshman Cristin Stuart also earned recognition on the Hockey East Honor Roll. McInnis notched a goal and two assists in the weekend sweep. Stuart led the Eagles on Sunday with three assists in the win.
BC (10-17-4, 6-9-3) will play a home-and-home series against New Hampshire this weekend in Hockey East action. The first game will be played on Saturday at the Whittemore Center. The puck drops at 2 p.m.
