Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Allison Anderson, a 2005 first team All-ACC selection, has received 2005 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I All-Region honorable mention. This is the first time the junior libero has earned this honor.
Anderson, a co-captain for the Eagles, hails from Moraga, Calif. Anderson played in 101 games and 28 total matches this year. She led the Eagles and the ACC with an overall 5.90 digs per game, .50 higher then the next best in the league. Anderson also posted a 6.25 digs per game average in conference play which also led the league. Anderson had a team-high 39 aces on the year and was seventh in the league overall for aces served.
Anderson was placed on the AVCA's 2005 Division I 30-Dig Club four times this season, including a five-game match against Clemson where Anderson had 53 digs. This was a season-high for Anderson and was the second most digs in the nation in 2005. Anderson was four digs short of the NCAA record she set last year of 57 digs, the most in a match since rally scoring was implemented in 2001.
The Eagles finished 9-22 overall this season and 4-18 in conference. BC loses two seniors this year but will return 12 letter winners and six starters for the 2006 season.
