Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The women's ice hockey team beat a tough Northeastern University team on Saturday afternoon by a score of 5-4. The Eagles notched their sixth win of the season and before they go on two week break.
The Eagles got on the board first as sophomore Sarah Feldman took a pass from freshman Meghan Fardelmann to put the Eagles up, 1-0 halfway through the first period. As the Eagles continued to control play, Feldman would score again minutes later for her second goal of the day and her ninth goal of the season on an unassisted even-strength goal.
Northeastern would answer back with 7:55 remaining on the clock in the first as freshman Ali Bielawski took a pass from her sister, junior Ashley Bielawski to make the score, 2-1 going into the second period.
The second period proved to be much more of an offensive showcase as the Huskies and Eagles both scored twice. Northeastern opened up the period tying up the game at 2-2 at 16:59 as junior Crystal Rochon scored her ninth goal of the season.
The Eagles answered back five minutes later as freshman Meghan Fardelmann scored her second point of the game and her fourth goal of the season off passes by classmates Feldman and Deborah Spillane. But the Eagles lead would not last long as Northeastern scored its second goal of the period to tie up the game for a second time at three. Junior Marie Desrosiers scored her first goal of the season on the play as Amy Goodney and Crystal Rochon added the assists.
But with 28 seconds left in the second period, the Eagles leading scorer Spillane scored her first goal of the game and eighth goal of the season to put the Eagles on top, 4-3 heading into the third period
In the third period the Huskies came out strong again as they dominated play in the beginning of the period. At 16:45 Northeastern's Rochon scored her second goal of the game to tie the game up at four. Another 10 minutes would go by as both goalies demonstrated strong play. Despite getting the loss, Northeastern's Marisa Hourihan had 23 saves on the day. BC's Alison Quandt ended the day with 15 saves. BC senior Jill McInnis tallied the gamewinner at 6:14 as she notched her second goal of the season.
