Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Eagles who are currently ranked No. 10 nationally started off strong against the No. 8 Dartmouth Big Green but would eventually fall to the Ivy League powerhouse, 3-2.
BC struck 1:49 into the first period as sophomore Sarah Feldman scored on a power-play goal. This was Feldman's fourth goal of the season. Sophomore defense Cristin Stuart and freshman defense Maggie Taverna assisted on the play as they both tallied their fourth assist of the season. But Dartmouth would not be defeated so easily and quickly scored three minutes later as Danielle Grundy scored her second goal of the season to tie up the game, 1-1.
Dartmouth would score again 30 seconds later as Dartmouth's Carrie Thompson also scored her second goal of the season and put the Big Green up, 2-1.
The Big Green would score their third goal in a row, 1:10 into the second period. Senior forward, Tiffany Hagge scored the eventual gamewinner for the Big Green on the team's third even-strength goal. BC was resilient though and kept up with the dominant Big Green for the rest of the game, not allowing them to score again.
Halfway through the second period, Feldman scored her second goal of the game and fifth goal of the season on another power play. Assisting Feldman was Deborah Spillane and freshman Becky Zavisza. All three forwards are now tied for a team-high five goals this season. With tough defense by both teams, the Eagles could not capitalize on their final power play attempt as time ran out in the third period.
The Eagles went 2 for 7 on the power play and held Dartmouth to 0 for 4 on their power play attempts. Both goaltenders had solid performances as the two teams rattled off more than 20 shots a piece. BC's Alison Quandt had 21 saves on the night including seven in the final period.
The Eagles now stand at 3-2-3 on the season and remain at 2-1-1 in conference play. BC will go on the road on Saturday, Nov. 12 as they take on the Yale Bulldogs at 1 p.m. The Eagles will return home to conference play next Saturday, Nov. 19 as they take on the Connecticut Huskies in their first meeting of the season.
