Volleyball Ends Season With A Win

Raleigh, N.C. - The Boston College volleyball team ended their 2005 campaign with a win over the North Carolina State Wolfpack, 3-0. The Eagles end the season 9-22 overall and 4-18 in their first year of ACC play.
Sophomore Kelsey Johnson led the attack for the second night in a row tallying a match-high 19 kills. Johnson also added three served aces throughout the match along with six digs and one block. Johnson led the team this season in kills totaling 325 and also averaging a team-high 3.10 kills per game.
Junior Shardai Davis had a strong performance against the Wolfpack totaling 11 kills while sophomore Abigail Hasebroock added 10 more digs on the match.
Senior co-captain Verena Rost had a match-high 30 assists and ended her senior season with 1113 assists on the year, averaging 10.21 assists per game. Freshman Brittany Pierpont split setting duties with the senior co-captain and chipped in 19 assists in two games played in the match.
Junior co-captain and libero Allison Anderson had a match-high 30 digs. Anderson also served up two aces. The junior finished the 2005 season with a team-high 39 served aces and 596 total digs. Anderson averaged a conference high 5.90 digs per game throughout the season.
Despite trailing early in the first game of the match, the Eagles battled back and forth with the Wolfpack for every point until the Eagles went up for good at 28-27 and took the game, 30-27 from North Carolina State.
In the second game the Eagles controlled much of the play in the beginning until State battled back to tie the game up at 11. The Eagles came back to take to finally tie the game up again at 23-23 after State held a short lead. The Eagles went on a 3-0 run at the end of the game to take the second game also by a score of 30-27.
In the third and final game the Eagles took control of the game and the match as they went on an 8-1 run to take the lead, 20-14. The Wolfpack would only take six more points in the game as the Eagles took the game and the match, 30-20.
The Eagles who will lose two seniors to graduation this year look to return to the core of the team as they come back in 2006 for their second year of ACC play.
