Women's Cross Country Finishes 18th at NCAA Championship

Terre Haute, Ind. - The women's cross country team competed in the NCAA Division I Championship on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute Ind. Senior Laurel Burdick finished the 6,000-meter race in 20 minutes, 29.9 seconds, while earning All-American status. The team finished 18th overall with 432 points. The Eagles faced a field of 253 runners and 31 teams.
This marks the sixth year in a row that Boston College fielded a runner that has earned the prestigious honor. Senior Maria Cicero received it in 2004, 2002 and 2001, while Jennifer Kramer earned All-American status in 2003. Burdick is the ninth Boston College runner to receive All-American honors, with Cicero, Maggie Guiney (2000, 2001) and Angie Graham (1996, 1997) receiving it in multiple seasons.
Following Burdick, was freshman Mallory Champa, placing 66th overall with a time of 20:49. Cicero placed 103rd overall in 21:11.5.
Freshman Nichole Lister placed 157th, while crossing the line in 21:40.2.
Seniors Kristen Coon and Anne Hessberg, placed 198th and 214th with times of 22:04.1 and 22:16.7, respectively. Rounding out the Eagles seven runners was Nikki Tufts, crossing the line in 23:10 for 244th place.
