Durham, N.C. - The Eagles fell to the Duke Blue Devils Saturday night at Durham, N.C, 3-0. Sophomore outsider hitter Kelsey Johnson had a match-high 15 kills on the night. Junior Alison Shepp added seven kills and had a team-high .400 hitting percentage.
Senior setter and co-captain had a match-high 44 assists along with 10 digs and four kills on the night. Junior co-captain and libero Allison Anderson also had a match-high 24 digs for the night. Despite the Eagles leading the Blue Devils in kills and assists Duke defeated the Eagles in three straight games.
Junior middle blocker Shardai Davis had a strong overall performance for the match putting down 14 kills, tallying a .286 hitting percentage while coming up with 12 digs and serving up two aces.
After dropping the first game, 30-22 the Eagles rallied from a 29-17 deficit to go on an 8-0 run, but Duke was resilient and took the game 30-25.
In game three the Eagles took an early lead but Duke came back to take a 10-8 lead. The two teams battled back and forth for every point until with the score tied at 28-28, the Blue Devils went on a 2-0 run to take the game and the match.
The Eagles return home to Chestnut Hill, Mass. next weekend for their final two home games of the season as they take on Georgia Tech on Nov. 18 and Clemson on Nov. 19 for senior night.
