Demon Deacons Top Eagles

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Eagles dropped a tough match to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 3-0. Junior Morgan Woodcock and sophomore Abigail Hasebroock led the Eagles with 11 kills a piece. Woodcock had a team-high .435 hitting percentage on the night.
Hasebroock led the team in blocks with a tally of four. Woodcock led the team in served aces with two for the night.
Junior co-captain Allison Anderson was the team leader in digs with 17 on the night. Senior co-captain and setter, Verena Rost had a team-high 33 assists. Rost also put down three kills, came up with six digs, two blocks and one served ace on the night.
Sophomore outside hitter, Kelsey Johnson had seven kills on the night along with 10 digs for the match.
The Deacs led the entire first two games and never looked back as they easily took a 2-0 lead, but the Eagles would not be easily defeated. The Eagles came back in game three, looking to push a game four. The Eagles led most of game three until at 23-22, with the Eagles on top, the Deacs went on a small run to make it 25-23 in their favor. The Eagles and the Deacs would then battle back and forth for every point, but Wake Forest proved to be overpowering taking the third game and the match with a score of, 30-28.
The Eagles bounce back into ACC action on Saturday as they take on conference powerhouse Duke at 7 p.m.
