
Sixth-ranked Men's Hockey Ties Northeastern, 1-1

BOSTON - Sophomore Dan Bertram scored the lone Boston College goal as the sixth-ranked Eagles and Northeastern skated to a 1-1 tie before 5,402 fans at Matthews Arena on Saturday night.
BC (1-1-1, 0-0-1) got on the board first when Bertram beat Husky goalie Adam Geragosian at 3:57 in the first period off a feed from junior Joe Rooney. Sophomore Brian O'Hanley was also credited with an assist. Northeastern (0-2-1, 0-0-1) evened the score on Brian Deeth's goal at 4:10 in the second period.
The teams combined for 35 penalties totaling 118 minutes. Boston College finished 1-for-7 on the power play while Northeastern failed to capitalize on three power-play chances.
BC sophomore goaltender Cory Schneider registered 23 saves in conference-opener for both teams.
The Eagles will host Hockey East opponent Maine in the home opener on Friday, Oct. 28 at Kelley Rink.
Game Notes: Boston College is now 7-3-1 in conference openers under head coach Jerry York ... the Eagles are 11-1-1 in the last 13 games and hold a five-game unbeaten streak against the Huskies ... BC is 5-0-8 in the last 13 overtime games played.
