
Cherkasov and Krasnopolsky Are Impressive at ITA All-American Championships

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshmen members of the women's tennis team, Dasha Cherkasov and Lana Krasnopolsky, had an impressive weekend at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Pallisades, California.
The tournament is the first of three national collegiate tennis championships this season. Known as the most distinguished tournament of the fall season, many of the country's finest players compete in the 64-player and 32 doubles team draw.
Cherkasov began the weekend with a strong 6-4, 7-5 win over Helene Lindstrand from the University of San Diego. In the next round, she made quick work of the 14 seed in the tournament and #124 ranked Marielle Gruenig, 6-2, 6-3. Cherkasov then drew Georgia Tech's Tarryn Rudman, dropping the match in straight sets to the #103 ranked player in the nation.
Krasnopolsky also found success, handling the her first two matches in her draw. The freshman dominated Dominique Karas in straight sets before taking out Ksenia Tokarieva 6-4, 6-4. Krasnoplsky also fell in the round of 16, but both freshman proved that they can compete with the nation's elite.
On the doubles side of the tournament, Cherkasov and Krasnoplsky drew #60 ranked Amanda Fink and Luana Magnani from USC and dropped a thrilling 8-6 match.
