Volleyball Falls to Wake Forest

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Eagles fell to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Sunday afternoon 3-0. The Eagles kept it close with the Deacons but the Deacs pulled away after an Eagles run in the third game to take the match (25-30, 27-30, and 28-30).
Sophomore Kelsey Johnson had a team-high 14 kills for the match. Johnson also added six digs and one block. Junior co-captain Allison Anderson had a match-high 35 digs and added four kills, four assists and one service ace.
Freshman Brittany Pierpont and senior co-captain split the duties at setter with Pierpont dishing out 27 assists, a season-high for her, and Rost putting up 15 for the match. Pierpont also put up a block in the match.
Junior outside hitter Dorota Niemczewska was the other Eagle with double-digit kills totaling 11 for the match. Niemczewska also had nine digs and led the team with five blocks for the match. Junior Shardai Davis had another strong showing putting down seven kills, five digs, and three blocks throughout the match.
After dropping the first two matched by a combined eight points, the Eagles made a run of the third game to try to stay in the match. The Eagles went on a 4-0 run with match point on the line, but fell just short as the Deacs took the match from the Eagles 30-28.
The Eagles return to action at home on Tuesday, October 18, against conference opponent Maryland at 7 p.m.
