Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's tennis team started the fall season with a strong performance against Middlebury, winning 10 out of 12 matches at the Flynn Complex.
Middlebury, who won the 2004 Division III national championship and was runner-up in 2005, was soundly defeated by the Eagles who won all of the eight singles matches and took two of the four doubles matches.
Boston College #1 Soma Kesthley took down Brian Waldren 7-6, 6-4, and his teammates followed suit, winning the next seven matches. The five freshman for the Eagles all played well in their first collegiate matches, including Alex Rastorgouev, who made quick work of Conrad Olson, winning 6-0, 6-3.
On the doubles side, Jason Sechrist and Brian Hartness beat Kevin Bergesen and Fil Marinkovic 9-7. The freshman tandem of Michael Reiser and Zach Wolfe took out Salih Unsal and George Mayer 9-8.
