
Women's Ice Hockey Ties No. 5 New Hampshire

Durham, N.H. - Alison Quandt made 24 saves as the Boston College women's ice hockey team tied No. 5 New Hampshire, 2-2, at the Whittemore Center on Saturday afternoon. The tie gives the Eagles their fourth point of the season in Hockey East.
UNH (13-4-3, 6-0-1) got on the board first at 16:09 when Lindsay Hansen tallied her fifth goal of the year.
The Eagles held the Wildcats scoreless on their three power-play chances in the opening period. BC went 0-for-1 on its opportunities in the first.
The Eagles headed into the locker room trailing 1-0. UNH out-shot BC 8-3 in the first 20 minutes of play.
BC came out strong in the middle frame with eight shots on goal. The Eagles evened the scored at 8:04 into the period. Defenseman Kim Meagher found Sarah Feldman who beat New Hampshire's goalie for her 13th goal of the season. The assist is Meagher's second of the year.
Quandt continued her solid play with six saves in the second.
The Eagles took at 2-1 lead at 3:33 into the third. With a one-man advantage, Deborah Spillane capitalized on the power-play. The freshman scored off a pass from Nancy Gillis and Sarah Carlson. The goal is Spillane's ninth of the season, seventh on the power-play. Gillis earns her second assist of the season and Carlson notches her fourth on the score.
Seven minutes later, UNH tied up the game at two on a goal from Nicole Goguen. The Wildcats had nine shots on Quandt in the third period, making the game's tally 23-15 in favor of the Wildcats after 60 minutes of play.
In the extra frame UNH fired three shots on goal, but Quandt shut down the Wildcats.
BC finished the day 1-for-3 on its power-play chances. UNH failed to capitalize on its seven opportunities.
Quandt made 24 saves for BC and Melissa Bourdon stopped 13 shots for UNH.
BC (5-11-3, 1-6-2) will return home for a Hockey East game against Northeastern on Saturday, January 15. The puck drops at 2 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
