Matti Kaltiainen Earns Hockey East Defensive Player Of The Week

Senior goaltender Matti Kaltiainen (Espoo, Finland) earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending January 2, 2005 according to the league office.
Kaltiainen earned the Shawn Walsh Memorial Trophy in the Florida College Classic- an award given to the most valuable player of the tournament. Kaltiainen made 27 saves in the opening game against No. 9 Cornell and 35 in the championship contest against St. Cloud State, including six in overtime. He allowed three goals in the two games.
Kaltiainen currently ranks fourth nationally with a 1.80 goals-against average and boasts a .922 save percentage.
