Providence, R.I. - Boston College senior captain Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) was honored by the conference office as this week's BIG EAST Player of the Week. The honor is Deveny's third this season. It marks the fourth time that an Eagle has been so honored by the conference office this year.
In a week that saw BC capture two big wins, including its first conference victory, Deveny averaged 25.0 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 75 minutes played. Deveny led all scorers in BC's first BIG EAST game of the year, collecting a season-best 33 points on 9-of-18 shooting. She was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line, setting a WVU Coliseum record for free throws made and tied for free throw percentage. In the two games, she did not miss a free throw, going 15-of-15. She has scored in double figures in all 11 games.
The 14th-ranked Eagles (10-1/1-0 BIG EAST) will take on Georgetown Wednesday night. The team will return to Conte Forum for a January 12 tilt with Villanova.
