Women's Ice Hockey Drops Game At Mercyhurst

Erie, Pa. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team closed out it weekend series with No. 7 Mercyhurst College this afternoon in Erie, Pa. The Eagles fell to the Lakers 6-0 in the nonconference match-up.
In the first period Mercyhurst (15-5-2) opened up the scoring with a tally at 7:13. The Eagles had a power-play opportunity and fired three shots on goal, but were unable to connect.
Alison Quandt started in goal for BC and stopped 14 shots in the opening frame. The Eagles had six shots on Desirae Clark through one.
In the middle stanza, the Lakers added three goals to take a 4-0 advantage into the second intermission. Quandt made 12 saves in the period.
BC goalie Christine Moynihan saw her first action of the weekend series in the third. The sophomore allowed two goals and stopped nine shots in the frame. The Eagles put five shots in goal in the final period.
BC finished the day 0-for-3 on its power-play chances, while Mercyhurst was 1-for-3 on its opportunities.
The Lakers out-shot the Eagles 41-18.
BC (6-14-3) will travel to Storrs, Conn. to face off against the Huskies in Hockey East action on February 4. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
