
Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Connecticut, 4-1

Storrs, Conn. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team fell to the University of Connecticut, 4-1 on Friday night at the Freitas Ice Forum. Lisa Davis made 19 stops in goal for the Eagles.
In the opening period, BC (6-15-3, 2-8-2) got on the board first. Halfway into the frame, Michelle Lombardi connected for her second goal of the season. Rachel Wedig and Kerri Sanders assisted on the tally. Sanders is second on the team with 13 assists on the year.
Connecticut (9-10-6, 5-4-2) evened the score 10 seconds later when Jaclyn Hawkins notched an unassisted goal. Connecticut extended its lead to one at 13:32.
After one period, the Eagles out shot the Huskies 8-6.
In the middle frame, BC shut down Connecticut's attack. Davis made eight saves and the Eagles killed both of the Huskies power-play chances.
BC headed into the second intermission trailing 2-1.
The Eagles were unable to capitalize in the final stanza. BC went 0-for-2 on its power-play chances in the third. The Huskies added two goals in the period.
BC finished the night 0-for-4 on its power-play chances, while Connecticut went 1-for-4 on its opportunities.
Connecticut out shot BC 23-19 in the game.
The Eagles will close out the home-and-home series with the Huskies on Sunday. The puck drops at 2 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
