MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Jessalyn Deveny scored a season-high 33 points to lead No. 14 Boston College to a 69-56 victory over West Virginia on Sunday.
The Eagles (10-1, 1-0 Big East) have won nine straight games for just the third time in school history, and improved to 14-0 overall against the Mountaineers (9-2, 0-1).
Boston College led from the first basket, shooting 52 percent from the field in the first half. The Eagles also tied a Big East record with 18 free throws without a miss.
The Eagles took their biggest lead, 58-37, on a 3-pointer by Deveny with 11:38 remaining. Deveny, BC's only player to score in double figures, had more than 20 points for the fifth time this season, making 12 free throws.
The Mountaineers trailed 37-25 at halftime, their largest deficit of the year. West Virginia shot only 39 percent from the floor. No team has shot better than 50 percent against the Eagles this season.
Meg Bulger, the Big East's leading scorer, had 19 for the Mountaineers. Yolanda Paige added 13.
