Boston College freshman Charlie Davies has been selected to represent the United States on the 2005 Under-20 National Team. The 18-man roster will represent the country at the CONCACAF Group A Qualifying Tournament at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., from Jan. 12-16.
The national team will attempt to qualify for its fifth consecutive FIFA World Youth Championship, which will be held in Holland from June 10-July 2.
Davies is one of 13 college players selected to the squad and one of three chosen from Big East schools. Four professional players are also on the final roster, including 15-year old D.C. United star Freddy Adu.
Davies led the Eagles to a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 this past fall, registering nine goals and four assists during the season. He earned Big East Rookie of the Year and All-Big East first-team accolades for his performance.
The freshman forward has previously competed at the national level, earning spots on the 2004 U-20 and U-18 national teams.
