Volleyball Rises To Beat New Hampshire 3-1

The Boston College volleyball team defeated the University of New Hampshire (4-11) tonight in front of a record crowd of 400 at the Power Gym. The Eagles topped the Wildcats 3-1, bringing them to 9-7 on the season.
In the opening game New Hampshire jumped out to an early 6-1 lead, but BC responded by going on a seven point run. Sophomore Dorota Niemczewska led the charge as she recorded two of her team-high 10 kills. Tied at 11, Alison Shepp registered one of her nine kills and the Eagles would not look back from there. BC took the first game 30-26.
The Eagles did not let up in game two as they took an early 11-7 lead. Kristin Kenney helped BC gain the lead. The sophomore had an impressive night with 11 digs and two aces in the match. The Wildcats responded to the Eagle attack by tying up the match at 26. New Hampshire would not give up as they took game two from BC 30-28.
In game three, the Eagles responded by coming out on fire. The Eagles went on a 6-0 run to open up the game. Verena Rost led the attack as she completed three service aces in the match. BC did not look back as they took the game 30-16. Allison Anderson continued her dominant play at libero as she recorded a game-high 19 digs in the match.
The two teams continued to battle it out in game four. Tied at 25, BC senior Katie Andersen would take control with her serve as she had two aces in the match. Andersen continued her solid play as she had nine kills and six digs in the match. Two errors by the Wildcats would give the Eagles a 29-27 edge. Sophomore Lia Krautmanis finished off the match with one of her nine kills on the night.
BC will travel to New Jersey to play in the Rutgers Invitational on October 1. The Eagles will open up the tournament against host Rutgers at 7 p.m.
