Boston College volleyball will host the University of New Hampshire (4-10) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Eagles are currently 8-7 on the season and are coming off a 2-1 showing at the Brown Invitational.
The Eagles continue to improve as the season progresses. "I am really impressed with their work ethic and positive outlook. We are still improving and have not peaked yet. We are pushing to improve towards conference play," says Coach Leonard.
This is the second time Leonard will face her former team. Leonard served as associate head coach for six seasons with the Wildcats. Last season the two teams squared off early in the season as New Hampshire topped BC 3-0 in Durham, NH.
BC is looking forward to the match against its New England rival. "It is exciting to have UNH in the gym and for some great New England volleyball," says Coach Leonard.
Captain Allison Anderson and senior Katie Andersen have been dominating forces for the Eagles. "Allison Anderson has taken a huge leap forward in terms of her leadership skills and play on the court," says Coach Leonard. The sophomore recorded 54 digs in 13 games at the Brown Invitational. Andersen also had an impressive weekend for the Eagles. She registered three consecutive double-doubles totaling 42 kills and 31 digs at the tournament. "Katie Andersen has been really energetic and has made an immediate impact on the court for us," says Coach Leonard.
BC will honor Brookline native Karolyn Kirby in between games two and three of the match for her contributions to the sport of volleyball. Kirby has recently been named to the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mass.
