Amy Mortimer To Join B.C. Coaching Staff

The Boston College Cross Country and Track & Field Teams and Coaches are proud to announce a new member to Eagles' coaching staff. Amy Mortimer (no relation to current assistant coach, John Mortimer) will be serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Eagles while she continues her professional running career and is pursuing a Masters of Science and Accounting in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
Program Director Randy Thomas is very excited about the addition of Amy Mortimer to our staff. "Amy was one of the most successful female collegiate distance runners in the country while she was at Kansas State. She will be able to serve as a positive role model for many of our female distance runners." Below is some of Amy's career highlights:
Professionally:
Amy signed a contract with Brooks following her graduation at K-State. At the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, she finished 9th in the 1,500m with a personal best of 4:11.51.
While at Kansas State:
Amy was a 12-time NCAA All American. 4-time Cross Country All American, 3-time NCAA Outdoor Track All American at 1,500 (2) and 5,000m, and 5-time NCAA Indoor Track All American at 3,000m (3), Distance Medley Relay (2). She was a 5-time Big 12 Conference Champion in Track while leading her team to two Big 12 Team Titles. Her collegiate personal best were 15:44 in the 5,000m, 4:12 in the 1,500m, and 4:34 in the mile.
As a High School Prep:
Amy captured the Kansas high school record and Golden West Championship in the mile with a time of 4:44.09. She was a four-time 3A state cross country champion and a national Foot Locker cross country All-American in 1998, four-time 3A state track champion in the 3,200 meters, state champion in the 1,600 meters following the 1997, 1998 and 1999 seasons, state champion in the 800 for the 1998 and 1999 and finished ninth at the 1998 USA Junior Nationals in the 3,000 meters.
