Volleyball Blanks Holy Cross 3-0

The Boston College volleyball team shut out Holy Cross (1-7) at the Power Gym tonight 3-0. The Eagles have won five of their last six matches.
The two teams battled back and forth in the beginning of game one. Tied at 16, BC would go on a 10 point run led by six kills from Alison Shepp. Shepp tallied a game-high 10 kills in the match for an attacking percentage of .600. BC would go on to take the game 30-17.
The Eagles continued to dominate in game two as they jumped out to an early 15-6 lead. Consistent, strong play from setter Verena Rost helped the Eagles maintain their form and take a victory in game two. Rost registered 38 assists and six kills in the match. The Eagles rolled through game two 30-14.
In game three, the Eagle defense took over as Katie Andersen and Kristin Kenney combined for a total of 27 digs on the night. Andersen recorded a double double in the match with 10 kills and 15 digs. BC went on a six point run to take the lead 15-6. The Crusaders would battle point for point with the Eagles, but it wasn't enough as BC escaped 30-22 in the final game.
Sophomore's Lia Krautmanis and Shardai Davis also contributed for the Eagles. Each recorded three kills in the match for a combined attacking percentage of .550.
BC (6-3) will look to make it three wins in a row at the Jesuit Joust tournament against host Marquette University on Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m.
