Boston College was chosen to finish sixth in the 2004 BIG EAST Preseason Volleyball Poll. The Eagles received 50 points in the poll by the conference's head coaches. Notre Dame received nine first-place votes and 99 points to secure the top spot in the division. Last season's BIG EAST champion, Pittsburgh, was selected to finish second with two first-place votes and 90 points. With all six starters returning and the addition of three recruits, the Eagles are looking to improve off last year's 17-12 season. Sophomores Allison Anderson and Alison Shepp return as last season's leaders in kills. Freshman Kelsey Johnson looks to bring power and experience to the team at outside hitter. The Eagles open their season away on September 1 when they take on Rhode Island at 6:00. The team will start BIG EAST action at home on October 9 when it faces Georgetown at 2:00.
