Providence, R.I. - Boston College freshman Britney Thompson (Bountiful, Utah) was named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week on May 3. It is the third time this season that an Eagle has been honored by the conference office. Earlier in April, Jenna Macchi (Milford, Mass.) was named Co-Player of the Week while Tekae Malandris (Chula Vista, Calif.) was named Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Thompson hit an amazing .714 this week, collecting five hits. The freshman utility belted four home runs and drove in six runs in a very productive week. She delivered the game-winning home run in a 1-0 victory over Providence. In the second game, she knocked her eighth homer of the season to help BC to a 4-0 win over the Friars. Earlier in the week, Thompson posted two four-baggers in a 5-1 win over Harvard.
The Eagles are currently 30-21 overall and 9-9 in the BIG EAST. This week, the Eagles travel to Harvard for a single game Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. They will return to Shea Field for a single game with Massachusetts Thursday at 5:00 p.m. The Eagles will wrap up the home schedule as they celebrate Senior Day on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. against Pittsburgh.
