The McElroy Award is presented in honor of Tom McElroy, Jr. '80 and is presented annually to "...the Boston College student-athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of courage, sincerity and determination of Tom McElroy."
Arnault, who has started 57 of 58 games the last three years, earned All-BIG EAST and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All-New England second-team accolades in 2003. Also an outstanding student, Arnault earned Verizon CoSIDA Academic All-America second-team recognition.
Melamed was awarded the team's Most Valuable Player Award for the third consecutive year. He was a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, college soccer's highest individual accolade, and also earned All-BIG EAST first-team honors his junior season. A dedicated student, Melamed earned Verizon CoSIDA Academic All-District I recognition.
After playing in two games this fall, Nicholas improved greatly during the spring season to garner the Most Improved Player Award.

In his career at the Heights, Thomas McElroy walked onto the team, converted from midfield to goalkeeper and helped lead the Eagles to an ECAC soccer championship - the school's first soccer title. In January of his senior year, McElroy learned that he was suffering from cancer. Undeterred, he played his final season of college soccer. Only McElroy, Head Coach Ben Brewster and Athletics Director Bill Flynn were aware of his condition.
