Providence, R.I. - Boston College senior Tekae Malandris (Chula Vista, Calif.) was named BIG EAST Co-Pitcher of the Week and ECAC Pitcher of the Week on April 26. It is the second time this season that an Eagle has been honored by the conference office. Earlier in April, Jenna Macchi (Milford, Mass.) was named Co-Player of the Week. It is the first time this spring that a Boston Collge player has earned accolades from the ECAC.
Malandris pitched both of Boston College's wins during the week, posting a victory in two conference games. She allowed just two earned runs in 16.0 innings of work. She threw a nine-inning complete-game shutout to earn a 2-0 win over Seton Hall. The next day, she posted a 5-2 win over St. John's. Over the course of two games, she struck out 15 batters.
The Eagles are currently 27-21 overall and 7-9 in the BIG EAST. This week, the Eagles host Harvard for a single game Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. They will return to BIG EAST play with a doubleheader at Providence Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
