The Boston College women's volleyball team traveled to Storrs, Conn. this past weekend to compete in the University of Connecticut Spring Invitational. This was the third and largest tournament that the Eagles have participated in during their successful 2004 spring season.
BC went undefeated and earned the title in the tournament format which included one game to 30 points against the top regional teams in the Northeast. The Eagles bested Iona, Yale, Holy Cross, Quinnipiac and New Hampshire in their morning competition to grab the top seed in the playoff bracket.
In the first playoff game, BC won its first match against BIG EAST foe and host UConn with a score of 30-21. In the second match, the Eagles rallied from a 21-26 deficit against rival UNH to eventually win the match, 30-28. The come-back victory secured a spot in the championship match against the University of Maine when the Eagles came out on fire to win the tournament with a score of 30-18 over the Black Bears.
The Eagles will wrap up their spring season next Saturday, April 24, at the University of New Hampshire.
