Track Teams Compete In Solomon Husky Invitational

DEDHAM, Mass. - The Boston College women's track team finished first in five events and the men's team took first in two events at the Solomon Husky Invitational on Saturday.
Jessica Flinn (Sandown, N.H.) ran the fifth-fastest time - 4:36.79 - in the school's history en route to capturing the 1500 meter run. Also finishing first were Anne Hessberg (Slingerlands, N.Y.) in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Cara Valeri (Sterling, Mass.) in the 10,000-meter run.
Annie Walsh (Boulder, Colo.) leaped 36'2 ?" to win the triple jump while Jessica Fazekas (Closter, N.J.) won the shot put to round out the top performances on the day on the women's side for BC.
The men's team was paced by first-place performances from the 4x100 and 4x800 meter relay teams.
Shawn Wallace (Wakefield, Mass.) placed second in the 1500, while Trevor Rozier-Byrd (Freehold, N.J.), Keith Normant (Needham, Mass.) and Louis Canelli (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) all earned a runner-up finishes. Rozier-Byrd grabbed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:20.03 and Canelli cleared 6'6" to take second in the high jump. Normant, who also placed sixth in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, placed second in the triple jump with his mark of 3'9".
The men's and women's track teams travel to Durham, N.H. to participate in a five-way meet hosted by New Hampshire on Saturday, April 24.
