Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Rising senior Ryan Shannon has been elected captain of the 2004-05 men's hockey team, with classmates Andrew Alberts and Ryan Murphy and rising junior Patrick Eaves serving as assistant captains, Head Coach Jerry York announced.
The captains were elected on April 13 by a vote of the 25 members of the 2003-04 team.
Shannon earned All-Hockey East First-Team honors this season and All-America Second-Team accolades. Alberts was a First-Team All-American and Second Team All-Hockey East honoree. Murphy had 15 points in 2003-04 (six goals, nine assists) and scored the overtime game-winner in the Beanpot championship game. Eaves was third on the team in scoring this season (18 goals, 23 assists) and earned Second-Team All-American and All-Hockey East honors.
Shannon succeeds Ben Eaves as captain while Alberts, Murphy and Patrick Eaves will take over for assistant captains J.D. Forrest and Ty Hennes.
