Women's Lacrosse Beats Villanova, 8-5

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Susie Breaznell (Delmar, N.Y.), Courtney Legath (Moorestown, N.J.) and Carley St. Lucia (Delmar, N.Y.) each scored two goals to lead Boston College in an 8-5 win over Villanova on Saturday.
For the second time in as many games, the Eagles (2-0) scored five-consecutive goals in the second half to propel the team to victory. Breaznell tallied back-to-back scores less than one minute apart in that stretch.
Down 3-2 at halftime, Villanova (1-1) struck first in the second half and tied the game at three at the 35:13 mark. But, Boston College responded with the five-goal outburst over a span of 8:52. St. Lucia registered her second goal of the game and fourth of the season at 37:54. Six minutes later, Elizabeth Kadison (Evanston, Ill.) scored her first career goal and Breaznell scored twice to pull the Eagles ahead, 7-3. Legath rounded out the scoring for BC, beating Villanova goalie Jessica Brozena off a free position shot at 54:06.
The Wildcats tallied two goals - both scored by Becky Gardner - in the final six minutes.
BC goalkeeper Tara McKennett (Garden City, N.Y.) recorded 11 saves and faced 20 shots to earn the victory. The Eagles out shot the Wildcats 27-20.
St. Lucia tallied the first goal of the game and one of three straight in the first half. Meggie O'Neill (Garden City, N.Y.) and Legath tallied goals to build a 3-0 lead at the 20-minute mark. Nearly nine minutes later, Villanova recorded its first goal of the game at 28:52 from Bess Hanley. The Wildcats would add one more, but trailed 3-2 at halftime.
The Eagles are back in action Wednesday, March 10 when they travel to Harvard. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
