Boston College women's ice hockey goaltender Lisa Davis (Falmouth, Mass.) earned Hockey East Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors in an announcement made Monday, Feb. 9. She is the second Eagle to be recognized this season. Nancy Gillis was named the league's player of the week, Monday, Jan. 5.
Lisa Davis stopped 59 of the 63 shots she faced vs. third-ranked Harvard in the first round of the 26th Annual Beanpot Tournament, Tuesday, Feb. 3, in a 4-0 loss. That total tied the third most made by a BC goaltender in the program's history. It also marked the 10th game in her career in which she has saved 40-plus shots. She also made 18 saves in the 4-3 loss to UConn on Feb. 6 and garnered 29 saves in the 3-3 tie, Sunday, Feb. 8, highlighted by a pair of spectacular saves on UConn?s power-play opportunity in the waning moments of overtime. The Huskies fired a total of five shots on goal in that extra frame.
Davis now owns a 3.16 goals against average, good enough for 30th in the county.
The Eagles (5-13-3) host Boston University in the Consolation Round of the 26th Annual Beanpot Tournament, Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Kelley Rink. Game time is 5 p.m.
