Tara Joy-Connelly Joins Women's Golf Staff

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College women's golf coach Frank Kolarik has announced that Tara Joy-Connelly, the reigning Massachusetts Amateur Golf Champion, will join Boston College in 2004 as his assistant coach.
Joy-Connelly's extensive golf background includes strong playing and teaching credentials. After recently regaining her amateur status, Joy-Connelly won the 2003 Massachusetts Amateur Championship. Prior to returning to amateur golf in 2002, she played on The Futures Tour in 1998 with a season high finish of 12th. She also earned a third-place finish in the Massachusetts Women's Open and garnered a spot as an alternate for the U.S. Women's Open. In 1998-99 Joy-Connelly taught professionally in both the Boston area and in Naples, Florida. Upon relocation in 2000, she was the Tournament Administrator for the Philadelphia Section of the PGA of America.
Joy-Connelly attended the University of South Carolina and led the Lady Gamecocks to a 12th place finish in the 1993 NCAA Championship. She was also named Golfweek Pre-Season All-America and to the SEC All Academic team. Upon transferring to the University of Miami, Joy-Connelly recorded two top-ten finishes and earned a bachelor's degree in political science.
